As we clutch our fists at the scorching sun on another “Feels Like 115° F” Summer day, how ‘bout we open them up with a refreshing mangonada or icy cocktail instead? But why pause the solstice celebration there? Let’s expand our senses to the sounds of Summer playing through your baddest booming system!
When I think of Summer, I hear the sounds of cuicas, vibrant Afro-Latin percussion rhythms, shuffling of tropical tinged tempos, and lowriders bassing out on cruise control. I visualize monochrome linen silhouettes, explosions of flowery colors, and yes, I can also smell Texas barbeques! This is the amalgamation I choose to live in, and present it to you for your listening experience. Perfect for hosting a sun setting soirée, lounging under the palm trees by the pool, or for the after-after party.
Besides crafting a playlist infused with jazzy rhythms, sambas, and soulful hip-hop beats for you and yours to cool out to, my intention behind sharing these selections is twofold:
First, this collection features (mostly) recent releases by artists and record labels that should be on your radar!
And second, everyone with a music streaming app can access and enjoy these vibes.
As a full-time DJ and passionate music lover, outside of soothing my ego by collecting the hard-to-find remixes and B-sides of my favorite artists, the best part has been sharing this music with people, and in the process, making new friends. Music’s universal power of social connection is what enchants me to continue deejaying, an aspect I harness to create unique playlists for experiential events.
As a music fan, I encourage supporting the music makers so that they continue creating these dopamine hits.
