Summer Trends

Time to peel off the layers, let them fall back into our well organized closets, and bring out those fresh summer trends!
There are so many on-trend textures, fabrics, and colors to play with this summer, from raffia to muted tones to denim to bright, sunny hues! Like a swimming pool on a hot South Texas day, let’s dive into the trends! Here are a few of the staple “must haves” of the season.
Genuine raffia comes from the segments of the leaves off of the Raphia Farinifera palm native to Madagascar, but there are also synthetic options as it can be pricey due to production restrictions.
Accessorizing with raffia means endless possibilities when styling. You can choose from earrings, shoes, totes, handbags, hats, statement pieces, and more! Guaranteed to pair with nearly any outfit you wear, raffia is summery, fresh, and fun. There is no wrong way to style raffia because it produces effortless and elegant beachy vibes. It will be your most versatile piece in your closet!
The next trend is a denim bustier. This piece might be a little unconventional and out of your comfort zone, but it can be used as a layering piece to achieve the double denim look. If you just won’t feel comfortable in a bustier, but still want a denim piece, swap it out for a denim maxi skirt.
Another must-have piece is a tailored vest. Switch it up, instead of wearing a basic tank or a tee. It can be an extra layer as well!
A strapless dress is an essential, even if you lean more toward a capsule wardrobe (which is where you have a streamlined, edited-down selection of more “classic” clothing pieces that can be mixed and matched to create many outfits).
You can keep it simple in a solid black or white and accessorize it with pops of summer colors.
Speaking of which, vibrant orange is very much happening for the summer. Its popularity varies and women seem to have split opinions because it is highly saturated and viewed as unflattering on some skin tones. That said, it’s not about the color, but more how you wear it. Whether it’s your favorite color or you just want to be on trend, be sure to wear complementary, not competing, makeup. If you are wearing neon orange, keep it away from your face and use it as an accessory instead. Orange is also a great color to combine with others.
