Fashion, Meet Fiesta: Primavera Fashion Show

Editor & Photographer: Nick Blevins

While NCAA fans were being whipped into a collective frenzy only a stone’s throw away, Maximiliano Fashion Group’s Primavera Fashion Show was being held over the weekend at Rosario’s breezy rooftop bar along St. Mary’s street. A confluence of Fiesta and Fashion, the collaboration-minded event brought together a cast of talented designers, each with a distinct creative vision, for a fun, aesthetically-invigorating afternoon under a temperate spring sun.

Accessories and services lined the wall opposite Rosario’s pink bar for guests’ perusal, while a 360-degree camera stationed near one balcony captured the Tower of the Americas during its rotations, promising puro video portraits. In an inspiring departure from the staid step-and-repeat banners, fashionistas could also step into their very own cover shoot: a large box featuring a transparent, magazine cover-style frame bearing the event information.

Master of Ceremony Cyle Perez led the proceedings capably, navigating between designers and speeches with ease. Designs included the bold colors and distinct cuts of Limatus Bespoke’s spring suits, striking garments featuring stained glass, floral, and butterfly motifs from Mexico-based Sindashi, and stunning, hand-embroidered pieces from La Casa Frida, with accessories by Pria Handmade Accessories, Two H Jewelry, Farmasi, and Patricia Acevedo Designs.

Just about everybody in attendance looked like they could’ve been walking the runway themselves; so saturated was the sartorial taste at Primavera, in fact, that an impromptu guest fashion show was conceived, then very well received. With a stated mission to “continue creating fashion platforms that bring together tourism, fashion, and the lifestyle of San Antonio,” Maximiliano Fashion Group’s Fiesta-inspired celebration of our city’s culture—on arguably the prettiest day of the year, no less—seems a perfect encapsulation.
