Texas Paralegal Day

In celebration of Texas Paralegal Day on October 23, the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division-District 5 and the San Antonio Paralegal Association jointly hosted a 20th anniversary celebration of San Antonio Paralegal Day. Under the theme "20 Years - The Evolution of Paralegals (Then & Now)," esteemed keynote speakers Rhonda J. Brashears, CP, BCP, and Javan Johnson, ACP, TBLS-BCP, representing the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division, shared their insights and expertise.

The occasion also recognized outstanding paralegals in the community. UTSA paralegal Terii Lopez, CP received the first Paralegal Day scholarship for her commitment to continuing legal education. Paralegal Priscilla Nash of Group Legal Services, received the 2023 Paralegal of the Year award in recognition of her substantial contributions to the profession.

The event was organized by a dedicated committee of paralegal professionals who annually choose a charity to support. This year, Reflejo Court was the beneficiary, receiving a generous donation of $500. Reflejo Court, led by Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez, focuses on reducing recidivism through a multidisciplinary team approach that addresses core issues contributing to domestic violence.

The success of the Paralegal Day celebration is a testament to the dedication of the Paralegal Day Committee. Congratulations on a remarkable event and here's to the continued growth and evolution of paralegals in San Antonio!
