The Largest Outdoor Gallery In Texas
On November 4, throngs of artists and art lovers, vendors and food trucks, folks on bikes, and more gathered at Healy Murphy Park and the Cruising Kitchens campus on Nolan Street to take in the Largest Outdoor Gallery in Texas (LOGIT), an annual celebration of San Antonio’s vibrant street art and graffiti community and fundraising event for local 501(c)(3) nonprofit San Antonio Street Art Initiative (SASAI). Visitors to the park were met with a kaleidoscope of colors upon massive canvases covering almost every square inch of spare wall, artists spraying away at their creations; District 2 Councilmember Jalen McKee-Rodriguez was on site as well, working on his own piece.
Just a 30 second walk up Nolan on the Cruising Kitchens campus, a number of art and apparel vendors, community businesses, and a variety of enticing food options were available for perusal. The event continued inside of the Cruising Kitchens facility as well, including numerous artist galleries, art vendors, and in the entire back half of the hangar-sized building, a full-on bicycle race.
Developed by SASAI, the event is the culmination of year-round planning, focused on bringing together promising new talent alongside seasoned artists to showcase the best of our city’s street art community. Since 2018, each event has taken place in a different location, with the ultimate goal being to connect them all, establishing the eponymous Largest Outdoor Gallery in Texas. In its sixth year, LOGIT was hosted at Healy Murphy Park specifically to announce a $500,000 transformation of the underutilized recreation space to revitalize it to become the city’s first Street Art Park, in collaboration between District 2 and SASAI.
