Over 600 guests attended the 23rd annual gala to support the ongoing work of the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas. CEO Marian Sokol welcomed attendees and the Rev. Dr. Michael K. Marsh gave the invocation, followed by the update and introduction of the Uvalde team and their success.

Local Artists Light Up Stable Hall
The curtains rise as the silhouettes of the musicians on stage come into focus, and out of the quietude comes a beautiful harmonization of sound and rhythm so unique but unknowingly familiar that a wave of movement can be seen taking over the audience, as feet begin to tap, hands begin to clap, and couples sway back and forth with smiles.

Built for the Barrio: Talón Fest 2024
“Jaime’s place was built because I saw gentrification coming down the pipeline,” pointing to the custom mural he painted himself. “Chelas y Cultura Por Vida,” he told me. It means “Beers and Culture for Life”. His goal is to make Chicano culture accessible to anyone who wants to come experience it, while letting the powers that be know he does not plan on going anywhere any time soon.
Models of Texas’ Shine Bright 2
Models of Texas is a talent production organization started in 2022 that helps emerging models find their way on the runway and in the model business atmosphere. Working with new and experienced models across many fields, they’ve grown popular in the past year for their ability to produce shows not only in San Antonio, but in other surrounding Texas cities.

Pachanga was the collaborative effort of several local reproductive justice organizations such as Buckle Bunnies, Suenos Sin Fronteras, Avow Texas, Lilith Fund, and Jane’s Due Process—all of which target different sectors to ensure maximum reproductive care accessibility.

Donnell Ranches hosted this annual fundraiser to support the mission of Kinetic Kids, which is to enrich the lives of children with special needs and their families through sports, fine arts and educational programs to foster the development of courage, confidence, fitness, pride, joy and community.

Puro Pinche Galentines at La Ruina
La Ruina, an elegantly designed South American-inspired bar that sits in downtown San Antonio, became beautifully transformed by influencer Stephanie Guerra with Puro Pinche, and a congregation of female entrepreneurs to create Galentine’s, a space to shop, dance, and drink, created for women, by women.
Welcome Coffee
Presidents Kerry Rutledge and Katie Brown greeted guests as they took turns signing up for upcoming luncheons, donating to the charitable foundation, and reviewing the upcoming year activities. New members were welcomed and officers were introduced.
Teddy Bear Brunch
Special guest Bearemy from Build-A-Bear Foundation greeted guests at Signature Restaurant for the annual Teddy Bear Brunch benefiting Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas.
Piñata Protest, Bombasta, and Mexstep at Stable Hall
Performances by Dr. Marco Cervantes—who goes by the stage name Mexstep—and the band Bombasta rocked the house with infused music genres that magically blended the tunes of funk, hip hop, reggae, Tejano, and rock that had the crowd electrified before the headliners, Piñata Protest, took the stage to literally rock the house.
SA Life Academy Off-Broadway’s Aladdin
SA Life Academy (SALA), a year-round continuing learning program serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), held their 5th annual gala at the Witte May’s Family Center and Zachry Gardens. The theme of the event was Aladdin, and the organization was honored to share “A Whole New World” with over 620 supporters.

On Friday, February 9th, pop-up eclectic vintage shop Electric Company opens its doors. Featuring a range of stylish, curated pieces including clothing, textiles, furniture, and fine art, at prices that can be quite approachable, visitors will have no problems finding their new favorite items.
Pink Party: Women in Medicine & Law for the Cure
Women in Medicine & Law is a grassroots organization founded in 2004, bringing women in these two noble professions and friends together for the purpose of philanthropy and fellowship, while having a little fun along the way.
Uncork to Support
Texas Fine Wine, a group of four exceptional Texas wineries known for making quality, benchmark wines from Texas grapes, offered samplings and Uncorked to Support Texas Oncology Foundation. Bending Branch Winery, Duchman Family Winery, Pedernales Cellars and Spicewood Vineyards ensured guests raised a glass to sip and support families affected by cancer.
