San Antonio Martini Foundation & Trust hosted its annual Martini Party at the Witte Museum. One thousand guests attended the event, which was chaired by Adam Buck. Henry and The Invisibles entertained the crowd on a cool evening outdoors.

Upon entering Barbie’s World, Barbie fans placed bids at the sparkly auction, found beauty at the Mondini Creativity Corner, took selfies at the Barbie Snap Station, and dared to dream big during the Woodlawn Theatre performance.
Thanks for the Memories: A Night with the Emo Orchestra
Lead vocalist Craig Mabbit shared some of his thoughts about the tour with me over dinner. “It’s amazing to play with a full orchestra… even to hear our own songs with a full orchestra is really cool, " he went on, “We clicked really quickly. The camaraderie is great.”
Art in the Garden
Art in the Garden’s 4th annual event was held at the beautiful San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Founder Andrea Wollenzin and chairs Jennifer Biechlin, Desaree LaMacchia, Baylie Collins and Chalene Martinez collected works of art from 25-plus artists which were auctioned to raise funds for San Antonio Young Life East.

Fashion for Life at BPSA
To help raise awareness, founder Matthew Smith–who himself is a committed fashion designer–has launched and produced multiple fashion shows over the years that center focus on men and menswear apparel to emphasize the necessity for men to be aware that not only can they be victims, but that they must also be advocates against it. Fashion for Life is currently selling tickets for their Purple Reign Fashion Show scheduled for 7pm on October 19th at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.

Recently we’ve been hearing about this hidden gem called The Rock at La Cantera, and had been wanting to catch an outdoor movie on their lush lawn. Little did we know, however, there was also a brand new restaurant opening in its midst.

The competition required the participants to create three distinct looks, each tied to a specific theme. From beachy vibes to Olympic-inspired ensembles–and even MTV-inspired looks–the diversity and creativity on display were truly remarkable.
Fun (and fashion!) in the Sun: A Beach Runway Show
Restaurant Carriqui at the Pearl became a fashion hotspot for the day, hosting the Beach Runway Show, featuring celebrated Puerto Rican designer Stella Nolasco. Highlighting unique and flattering cuts, eye-catching fabrics, and refreshing range of styles, the Summer-minded garments offered a number of highly-chic ways to beat the heat.
A Signature Derby Brunch
Culinaria received a portion of the proceeds from this stylish event; dazzling hats and fascinators, red roses, jazzy tunes and tasty libations were not to be missed at Signature’s Derby Brunch.
The Seasoned Woman
Stirring, sometimes bittersweet, but always captivating, The Seasoned Woman–a project commissioned by Art2Action, the Carver Community Cultural Center, and the National Performance Network–comprised deftly-reworked Jazz and Arab standards, played in tandem with the balletic vocals of Syrian singer Lubana Al Quntar and the soulful tones and poetry of San Antonio’s very own Andrea Sanderson.
The New Top Dogg in Town
“Didn’t that used to be Senor Veggie?” you ask yourself, as you approach the vibrant space with its roll-up doors opened, making it all the more welcoming. From a distance you read, “Barrio Dogg.” It is quite literally a sign. This must be the way you need to start your Fiesta celebration.
